For this Project, I choose the theme plates rebel rebel and I choose it by excluding the ones I was sure I didn't like and would have not enjoyed bringing forward.
I started the project by researching different things such as information about cards and its history and making mind maps.
On the trip we saw a different ambiance of work that I've normally witnessed in my study time, it was a really intriguing environment,
and we learned a lot about how they divide their project and work sectors and especially how they work on trends and coming up with new Ideas. For my primary imagery I went to Manchester and took pictures of really anything I thought could be useful for my project, then when I got back in class I realized what images I really needed so I went to the studio in college and picked up some people on the way and took some portraits.
Pantone is a standardized color matching system, utilizing the Pantone numbering system for identifying colors. By standardizing the colors, different manufacturers in different locations can all reference a Pantone numbered color, making sure colors match without direct contact with one another.
For this Project, it's important to keep relevant to the theme.
RGB refers to the primary colors of light, Red, Green, and Blue, that are used in monitors, television screens, digital cameras, and scanners. CMYK refers to the primary colors of pigment: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black.
I found that the design was like every over design but making the card/product marketable was really hard I think I didn’t match that goal.
I found that the biggest issues were making something commercial and I resolved that by just making over the top design so Hallmark might get some Ideas out of my work instead of the actual design because my path was already to gloomy to reverse.
For this project, I used the basic Adobe applications such as Photoshop and Illustrator.
I have appraised Seb Lester that is a really skilled typographer, photographer Alex Currie that is a really young artist then I appraised and gave my thoughts about Steven Harrington that creates doodles and has worked with many different brands but after my project took a dark gloomy path I decided to appraise Man Ray because it felt more close to my kind of thought about the work.
Yes, I have screen showed most of my developments and edits, the only downside was my organisation of the screenshots and of the time I had at my disposal, next time I will likely organize differently my hard-drive and maybe sort it out better with dates and better names to keep track of what I'm doing and in how much time I'm completing a task I set my self.
I think the consistent theme of my edits is the dark side of them. and that deep feeling of horror, the cards are more aimed at a punk rock type of audience, this was very challenging, finding a target audience and actually sticking to their commercial preferences.
I'm really happy of the imagery and portraits I took and the edits of my patterns where I used my portrait imagery to make them.
(Hallmark comments: The conversation started of as a descriptive thought about my work, they said it was some really strong imagery but it missed a target audience and a commercial purpose that I knew it wouldn't have, they liked the strong black and white imagery I made and thought it was different from the ordinary styles.
lack of commercial porpoise .
Great imagery- really strong
really different style to the ordinary.
Needs a target audience
strong black and white img.)
